Janis Sallinger


Janis Sallinger is of counsel to the firm. Attorney Sallinger concentrates in the areas of estate planning, probate administration, and representation in mediated divorces. A major focus of her practice is the guardian ad litem representation for disabled persons.

Over her career, Attorney Sallinger has worked at several law firms in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and the United States Virgin Islands. In her practice, Attorney Sallinger is often called upon to serve as guardian of the person and conservator of the estate of disabled persons. She also is appointed by the courts for matters involving the review of trust accounts, petitions for license to sell real estate, custody, guardianship matters, and end of life issues. She worked for five years as an independent contract investigator traveling to various federal agencies for a private civil rights firm in Boston.

Attorney Sallinger served for a time as the Program Director of Advocacy for Women and Kids in Emergencies (AWAKE) at the Boston Children's Hospital. In that role, she managed a staff which provided services including the education of hospital staff about domestic violence and working and advocating for battered mothers of hospital patients. She has also done extensive training in the U.S. and United States Virgin Islands on domestic violence, and has presented at numerous conferences on the topics of gender discrimination and violence. Over the years, she has lived in Caribbean, Chinese and Muslim nations.
